Boujiee Boutique originated back in 2024 during a time in my life when I was diagnosed with three autoimmune conditions. My health changed almost overnight. I had to step away from my business studies and was no longer able to continue the care work jobs I had . I spent so much of my time in hospital having blood tests, scans and biopsies, while physically struggling to look after myself. Being stuck at home, watching my independence disappear and coming to terms with conditions I would have for life took a huge toll on my confidence and mental health.

One of the most noticeable changes was my feet. Because of inflammation and swelling, I could no longer fit into my trainers and eventually Crocs were pretty much the only shoes I could comfortably wear.

I used to think Crocs were boring, ugly hospital shoes — so rather than accept that, I decided to make them mine.

I customised my own pair with everything I loved: colour, sparkle, charms and personality. Whenever I wore them out, people would compliment them. Even doctors and nurses at my appointments would ask about them. That little bit of creativity gave me something to look forward to at a time when I felt like so much of my life was outside of my control.

I started creating customised Crocs for friends and family, sharing what I was making on social media, and completely unexpectedly, people started paying attention.

What started as something to keep me occupied became the beginning of Boujiee Boutique.

Since then, the business has grown far beyond Crocs. Today, Boujiee Boutique is about personalised accessories, charms, junk-style creations, custom pieces and giving people the freedom to create something that feels completely them. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from specialists in business, marketing and finance, rebuild my confidence and develop the business into something I genuinely feel proud of.

As a small independent UK business, I know first-hand that building something from the ground up isn’t always glamorous. There are long nights, learning as you go, figuring things out without having all the answers, investing what you have back into the business and constantly finding ways to grow. But there is something incredibly special about creating something that started with you and watching other people fall in love with it too.

Boujiee Boutique is my reminder that sometimes life can change your plans without completely ending your story.
